Where's the Lubbock that I remember?

After returning from spending 2 days at my old college campus and town - I'm bummed. I know that I am old. Graduated from Lubbock Christian in 1986 ( awhile ago) - but the changes that have been made since - have been PHENOMENAL - I mean, we got lost "several" times - both on campus and in Lubbock. I lived there for almost 5 years. Have you been to Lubbock lately? OMG! The "Marsha Sharp" freeway has made such a difference - but the growth of Lubbock is HUGE! LCU has made some major changes - their campus is TOTALLY different. I was hoping to glimpse somethings I recognized and remember the ole "college days" - but I returned lost and shocked by the changes that we found. Growing old isn't fun...

Anyways! (Enough of the whining...) We took the "Ging" and retrieved Alex from camp! He had a wonderful, meaningful time! The campers were housed in my old dorm (Katie Roger's) - I couldn't even remember my old room # - argh! They now have carpet and new furniture - but still a communal bathroom down the hall - which Alex did NOT like - LOL! But he's already counting on going back to Encounter next year (yikes - that's for high school students - OMG!)

His pick for lunch was "Joe's Crab Shack" - so we entertained my brother CA and his two daughters with lunch also! My nieces have really grown - Amber and Arin! "Cutie-pa-tooties" CA's wife, Lee Ann, had to work - "we missed you, Lee Ann"! Now we're off to planning a great 4th of July celebrating with more family - can't wait PC & family! The boys are now counting the days with "GRACE DAYS" - how many days will it be before Grace is here!

While in Lubbock, we found several very nice garden nurseries - KV is still in the mood - LOL! Here's a pic of KV's new "pot" - only MY man would want a POT for his wedding anniversary! hee hee! Got the large terra cotta pot in C-town from Ballyho - found the flowering pot with a huge variety of flowers from "Mary Lee's Nursery" in Lubbock.

Also found some PURPLE lantana! Our local club - Keep Childress Beautiful voted on the "lantana" to be the flower of Childress, TX - so we've designed a flower bed out in the front yard for our variety of lantana - so far we've got - multi-color, red, yellow, white and now purple!! More pics later!

So, we're back at home and I'm totally depressed about Lubbock - it wasn't the experienced that I had hoped for... not sure what I wanted after 20+ years - hmmmm! Oh well! Back to reality!

OH! We did find a new place to eat - SHERIDAN'S - it's frozen custard... mixed with a zillion toppings! It's kinda like Marble Slab creamery - they can mix anything into your vanilla or chocolate custard. We could go for another 50 times and all try something new every time! It was VERY good also! You'll have to try it! We liked it very much! Would we give it up over "Bahama Bucks"? - Hmmmmm - Maybe! (Not!)

Hope you are doing well this week! Thanks for stopping by! Are you able to keep cool during the HOT summer hours? Hope so! Can't believe that June is coming to the end for 2010! Summer is going fast - I do love the summer! Remember to hug the ones you love the most!

I love Lubbock and we used to go there almost every Saturday.....but the last time I visited I had no clue how to get to the "new" Target. Was kind of sad....I don't have all the old memories you do but it was frequented by L, G and I quite often when we first moved to the panhandle area. Growth hurts but inevitable!

Love the idea that Kyle would want a pot for his anniversary! L thinks flowers are a waste of time and take up "green space". LOL
