Tonight, we're planning to attend a "Going Away" party for a sweet couple who are moving from the big C-Town! For the party - the man has an incredible SWEET tooth - so we're bringing desserts and will indulge in a sugar-high after church tonight - hee hee!
Here's my recipe that I'll be making for tonight - and also for this week's recipe swap - ENJOY!
This is one of those recipes where you "lick the bowl clean" to get every bit! LOL Also, this was one of my grandmother's ("Maw Maw") favorite recipe - but she referred it as
" Pink #@!&^ " (bad word!) ...
so, WE call it Pink Stuff or Pink Snow or Pink Angel Food Dessert. Now! If you use blueberry pie filling... it would be "Blue Stuff".. or blue... whatever! Funny, funny, funny...
I've seen it called a "punchbowl" dessert... but I've been enlightened that a "punch bowl" dessert is just a "trifle" mixed up; served in a punch bowl -- what do you think?? Whatever it is - this dessert is good - what ever the name!!
PINK STUFF
(requires an angel food cake - store bought or home made...)
1 Angel food cake; cut up into cubes
1 (8 oz) Cream Cheese
1 cup Milk
1 (16 oz) Cool Whip topping
2- (21 oz) Pie filling (cherry, strawberry or blueberry...)
1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
1/2 tsp. Vanilla
Mix together the powdered sugar, cream cheese, vanilla and milk. Next fold in 1 can of the pie filling and the "Cool Whip" topping. *If you want a trifle... make layers in a glass bowl - cake, mixture, pie filling and repeat. To serve in a punch bowl, put cake in bottom, spread mixture over cake pieces. Pour pie
filling over mixture. Chill until serving.
This is one of those recipes where you take a bite and your eyes roll back into your head... and I'm sure it's calorie & fat free! NOT! It's so good and so easy!
Hope you are having a great week! Thanks for stopping by on "Hump Day"! We've got semester testing for the next two days - argh! It will be clean, clean, clean for me and my classroom / workroom. Going to start out a Spring Semester in cleanliness...LOL! Or that's the plan! Hug the ones you love!
