Alex gave the lesson this Wednesday night at church over "How to be Content" - his lesson was about 3 1/2 minutes long - he has no problems getting up before people. Playing the piano, singing, talking -I get more nervous than he does, but Alex just won't speak LOUD!! He's a "soft talker" - unbelievable to consider who his parents are (and I'm not the loudest one either!!) Alex also loves doing the visual aids (power point or keynote) to his lessons. He's a 6th grader... wonder what he'll be doing technology wise in 5 years?? Here's the notes from his sermon tonight! If you see him be sure and tell him what you thought of his lesson... thanks!
The Bible teaches us to "be content" no matter what our circumstances are. Read in Philippians 4:11, "I am not saying this because I am in any need, for I have learned to be content in whatever situation I am in." A definition of being content is: satisfied to the point where you are not disturbed or disquieted. Being content doesn't mean to be satisfied to the point where you don't want, but satisfied for now until God brings the change. In Phil. 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." These verses of the Bible are telling us not to be upset about anything, no matter what is happening. Pray about it, and tell God you need. While you are waiting for God to move, be a very thankful and grateful person for all that God has done for you already. Being thankful from the heart is necessary for the receiving of God's continued favors in our lives. In verse 7 it tells us to do 3 things: 1. Have no anxiety 2. Tell God your need 3. Be thankful; then you will have peace and contentment no matter what state you are in while you are waiting for God to work out His will in your life!
