Hey all you CARD MAKERS!
- Here's a chance to contribute to a worthy cause this month, Splitcoaster members (http://www.splitcoasterstampers.com) are making cards to express gratitude and support to wounded soldiers and those who care for them, they are called Operation: Quiet Comfort, a nonprofit organization. You can read more about OQC efforts on their site.
If you are interested and would like more details about making "Cards for a Cause" click here. You can make one card or you can make ten or more cards! All cards will be sent to a p.o. box , and the cards will be forwarded on to this organization.
GET WELL CARD GUIDELINES
The type of cards should be: Patriotic, Get Well, Thinking of you, Thank you (Don’t forget the medical staffs. You can send a patriotic thank you card letting them know how appreciated they are for the work they are doing.) - Each card needs to have a personal message written inside. Start off with “Dear Hero” or something similar. This makes it appropriate for any military unit. The message can be a simple “get well soon” or “thank you for your service” or a letter describing yourself, your family, your town. Write from the heart. If you do not know what to write, OQC has many members willing to fill your blank card with a heartfelt message.
- SIZE: approx 4x5 – ½ sheet of cardstock. The card must fit into a quart size bag
- NO GLITTER or LOOSE embellishments. This is at the direction of the medical staffs.
- NO envelope is required.
Please have your cards sent no later than December 01, 2008. Send them to this address:
I think this is something that my art students can do - "it'll look good on their resume'" - (CHS joke...!) To create something for someone else - to have students develop compassion and have an interest in something good - its hard with these "self-centered" teenagers... not that ALL are "me-orientated" ; there are just a lot who are. This is something for them to contribute to and learn, while having fun?!Splitcoaststampers Cards

In September, Splitcoast members sent 420 cards and enough donations to sponsor two overseas packages for the Cards for Heroes program. For October's cause, Chemo Angels, they sent close to 2,000 cards. Join the world and make a card or more for a cause - again November's cause is Operiation: Quiet Comfort.
