Is time flying for you?
Time is just "whizzing by" right before my eyes...
Need to SLOW down! Every felt that way?
Here's an update of this last week! We've been busy! Poor Alex, who is an 8th grader, has really been living the fast life - gone to Slaton, Tx on Thursday night, again on Friday, Amarillo on
Saturday - the kid is just sleeping in his bed and zooming out the door each morning - argh! I'm missing my boys! Here's a "friend" that KV and Aric met in the mall on Saturday! Too funny!
Had to snap a quick picture with Too Tall and my men... SCAREY!
ANDY HAYES - we're missing you really
bad right now! Need us some ANDY time!
Call home! Need to hear your voice!
Band contest was Saturday! Our big blue band from Bobcat land did awesome! The judges gave them a 2 - but they're still #1 with us! They really worked hard and give a 110% for their performance! Proud of them!
Sunday was our annual 4-H Food Show. Both boys competed and did well. We were "slackers" - both boys did the same recipe (Boo!). We fell in love with "smoothies" during the summer - so we've picked out a nutritional snack drink - a smoothie - each boy picked out their own glass and theme.
Here's the boys' recipe of their 4-H entry ... it's not very sweet - but it's nutritious and only 97 calories per serving. (Compared to McDonald's that has 278 calories... 12 oz - $2.48; ours is $1.65 for the whole recipe 24 oz.)
This recipe makes 3 servings - so even if
you drink the WHOLE recipe it's under 300 calories. The beauty of a Smoothie is that you can use ANY type of fruit - it can be different every time that you make your drink! There's a MILLION substitutions that you can make also - try a smoothie for breakfast or an afternoon snack - make a meal by adding a peanut butter and jelly sandwich! We love Smoothies! (Can ya tell...!)
Nutritious Smoothie
3/4 cup Milk (we use fat-free)
1/2 cup Orange juice ( we squeeze ours; 2-3 oranges)
1/2 cup Apple sauce; unsweetened
1/2 cup Raspberries; frozen
1 small Banana ( sliced and frozen)
7-10 Ice Cubes
Blend together until smooth! Serve immediately in a chilled glass. Yields: 3 servings
We played a morning flag football game on Saturday - Aric's team has
been off for 2 weeks! The Saints got their jerseys also! Go Saints!
One last thing, ya know it's October when the "Asters" bloom - ours are BEAUTIFUL!
Tip: cut back branches of the Asters during the summer (around July 4th) and WOW!
the blooms will double! Ours are incredible this year, and I think cutting back was VERY effective! They're the thickest ever! Butterflies are everywhere! So pretty...!
Thanks for stopping by! Wishing you a great week! HUG the ones you love the most and come back often! Best Wishes!
