Cornbread Recipe

This week's recipe swap is for basic CORNBREAD.  A "comfort food" for us in my family!  Love, love, love cornbread!  Hot, with butter - YUM!  What do you eat with your cornbread?  Forget the mix stuff - try this recipe - very easy!


1 cup Flour (all-purpose)
1 cup Corn Meal
4 tsp. Baking Powder
1 tsp. Salt
2 Tblsp. Sugar
Mix well; beat in 1 cup milk and 1 egg.  Add 1/4 cup melted shortening or bacon dripping or cooking oil.  Pour in a greased, hot skillet ( For a hot skillet - I just preheat the skillet, along with the oven...).  Bake 425 degrees at 24-28 minutes.  Enjoy!
