Sunshine Sherbet Recipe

Summer always means
HOMEMADE ICE CREAM... right?

You might fix it at other times, but "You've GOT to fix some during the summer!" LOL!  Tonight, our last VBS meeting, it's tradition to fix and serve homemade ice cream - it's fun to taste all the different kinds...

So today's Recipe Swap is our traditional"Sunshine Sherbet" recipe.  It's an orange flavored sherbet - we just named it "Sunshine" for the local ice cream freeze-off one year!  It is KV's fave (without the fruit...)  My dad's all-time favorite ice cream -
so in memory of "Pops" - I always make it for VBS!  Try it!  It's too easy and freezes pretty quick... even on a week of 100's - argh!
(Andy Hayes... look at these temps - we're melting in Texas!)

Just like most of my recipes, you can change it with using a different soda - we've tried Big Red and added cherries - very good! Made a "Shrek" sherbet using Lemon-Lime soda; and added green food coloring!  Also had a friend use Root Beer and it gave a "root beer float" taste! Go Rhonda!  Let us know what you come up with!  Enjoy!

Sunshine Sherbet
2 liters of Orange Soda Pop
15 oz can crushed pineapple, drained
2 cans Eagle Brand Milk
11 oz can Mandarin Oranges, drained & chopped
Mix the soda, milk, oranges and pineapple together. Pur into freezer can, put dasher in place, cover and freeze in a ice cream maker!

Guess I missed this tonight!! Man! Won't promise I will make it though. We are not sherbet fans here at my house. Well.....Lonnie probably is and I just don't know it because I don't buy or fix things I am not fond of. BUT, your sounds really good, so you never know.

I have to say, you guys are the funnest family. There has got to be an award somewhere for you guys. Never seen a family that played so much and still got everything done.

Thanks for always sharing!
